This model is the heart of ORBITS approach for conscious learning and being. "Conscious learning" is learning that is more encompassing of our essence as humans, intelligent beings, who can individually and collectively build our communities with as less struggles as possible. "Being" is the state, when we live our daily lives, taking responsibility for ourselves and our communities, with as less past and future worry as possible. Being immersed in daily tasks does not have to stifle the gift of living a fulfilling life.

To achieve that, learning can be seen as a six-fold structure, in which education is one sixth, supported by five other equal parts. So in all:

  • Learning from the self

  • Learning from the family

  • Learning from formal education

  • Learning from non-formal education

  • Learning from the ancient wisdom

  • Learning from the community

Each of the six parts comes to full expression through three disciplines: reflection - unlearning - reciprocity

This 21st century necessitates much more than the traditional curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. That's why considering cognition, technology,  social and emotional education and global citizenship with equal focus is essential to help prepare well-rounded learners in the present and for the future.

However, it is done within the framework of ORBITS Approach:

  • Cognition at a metacognitive level

  • Technology governed by wisdom

  • Social and emotional prudence

  • Global citizenship at an ecocentric, intuitive level

Global Citizenship is highly emphasized by education systems and institutions around the world. It is undeniably important to respect other cultures and nations and to foster  empathy as we communicate and exchange ideas and insights.

However, it is also portrayed within the framework of ORBITS Approach:

  • Natural, because it stems from our pure, untarnished humanity and ecocentrism

  • Responsibility-driven, because it is simply what serves all of us with well-grounded integrity, unconditional support, and unbiased intelligence, i.e. away from mainstream movements

  • Freedom-enhanced, because it fosters our right to be guilt-free, stress-free, and pessimism-free.

Well-being within the framework of ORBITS Approach is not the jargon we know. It is the synergy of:

  • 21st Century ORBITS Model (above)

  • research from sciences, neuroscience, and psychology  (Research and Development R&D is overlooked in education)

  • The Law of the Flow  (learning to live and grow, rather than living to learn and earn)

  • Self-management (as an essential soft skill, but at a deeper level than the traditional management jargon )

  • Taking responsibility  (focusing on responsibility and agility, rather than guilt and demanding competitiveness )

With critical and creative thinking, prudence, and metacognition,

There is no indoctrination. There is no labeling.  There is no blind crowd flow.
